Tompkins County is recruiting applicants with a background in arts and culture for the Strategic Tourism Planning Board (STPB).
The STPB is a volunteer public board that advises the Tompkins County Legislature on effective use of over $2.5 million in hotel room occupancy tax revenues. Its mission is to provide oversight and strategic direction for tourism initiatives that promote economic development and enhance the quality of life in Tompkins County.
The STPB contains balanced representation with interests in lodging, retail, recreation, arts and culture, institutions of higher education, agriculture, and other relevant sectors of the local tourism industry. The arts and culture representatives will have the opportunity to support dynamic new initiatives being led by the Tompkins County Tourism Program.
The board meets on the third Wednesday of each month from 3:00 to 5:00 pm. More information about the Tompkins County Tourism Program and the STPB is available online at www.tompkinscountyny.gov/tourism
