Tompkins County Director of Accounting Services, Darrel Tuttle, was recently recognized for achieving the Government Finance Institute (GFI) Certificate of Professional Development, Foundations Level.
The Government Finance Institute, a program of the New York Government Finance Officers’ Association certifies professionals who complete coursework in the areas of Accounting & Financial Reporting, Budgeting, Cash Management, and Internal Control.
Tompkins County Director of Finance Lorrie Scarrott applauded Tuttle, stating “Darrel has contributed greatly to our Finance Department and the County’s accounting services, I’m so glad that he was able to take this opportunity for professional development. He approaches his work with integrity, is helpful to staff and auditors, and is always willing to learn new skills to further our work in the County Finance Department.”
Tuttle spoke about the GFI, “The workshops and forums I participated in for this certification were very insightful. I have been able to bring those insights and new skills back to Tompkins County to support the Finance Department’s role in accounting, internal control, and our audit. Thanks to Tompkins County for offering employees professional development opportunities like this one.”
