Tompkins County Mailing Resource Guide to All Residents

Residents in Tompkins County can expect a large postcard arriving in mailboxes this fall in an effort to inform the public about services offered by the County Government. The mailer and its companion webpage (tompkinscountyny.gov/services) detail how residents can access local services and learn more about what County departments do in support of the community.

The mailer lists resident supports, information on transparent government, and community resources. It also includes a resident checklist and priorities outlined on the County’s 2024-2029 Strategic Operations Plan.

printable resident checklist has also been published and will be available at County offices.

Residents who are not able to access the internet are encouraged to dial 2-1-1 (or 1-877-211-8667) for quick connections to local services and information. A listing of all County departments remains available (tompkinscountyny.gov/departments).

Tompkins County Administrator Lisa Holmes stated, “Our goal is to continue putting Tompkins County services front and center. Residents can use this guide to see the breadth and depth of local services.” Holmes added, “Our staff and community partner agencies do a remarkable job of serving the public, from providing direct care and services to keeping the community informed and engaged. I hope that residents will find this initiative useful, explore our services, and share information with friends and family.”

Tompkins County Communications Director Dominick Recckio said, “Tompkins County continues to improve and expand how we communicate with the public. Thank you to our Legislature for prioritizing access to public information and supporting new ways of reaching the public.” Recckio continued, “The Tompkins County Strategic Operations Plan prioritizes equitable service delivery and includes objectives to increase community engagement and public information, this effort is a part of meeting the County’s goals. Last year’s all-resident mailer was a success, feedback from residents was used to improve this year’s design and list of resources.”

Tompkins County invites community ideas to increase and improve public information efforts. If you have ideas, please share them with us at tcgov.co/piabideas or email pubinfo@tompkins-co.org.
