April 12, 2022 - Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree Arrest

On April 12th 2022 at approximately 3:06 PM, Tompkins County Sheriff's deputies responded to Key Bank located at 2315 N. Triphammer Rd in the Village of Lansing for a male wielding a metal baseball bat, who broke a door inside the bank and was acting irate. 

When deputies arrived on the scene, bystanders stated that the male took off on foot with the baseball bat. A short time later, deputies located the male with the baseball bat running on Graham Rd in the Village of Lansing. Deputies made contact with the male and detained him in order to conduct their investigation. It was learned that the male, who was identified as 31-year-old Dusty Townsend of Lansing NY had walked inside the Key Bank with the metal baseball bat, threatened to harm bank employees, and damaged a door and a hand sanitizer dispenser. 

Townsend kicked and spit on several deputies while in custody, as well as damaged a TCSO patrol car.

Townsend was charged with two counts of Criminal Mischief in the 3rd Degree (Class E Felony), Menacing in the 2nd Degree (Class A Misdemeanor), Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree (Class A Misdemeanor), Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree (Class A Misdemeanor), Resisting Arrest (Class A Misdemeanor), Obstructing Governmental Administration (Class A Misdemeanor), and three counts of Harassment in the 2nd Degree (Violation). 

Townsend was sent to centralized arraignment and released to Probation by the orders of the Judge.
