April 9, 2022 - Robbery Arrest

On April 7, 2022 at 9:40 PM, Tompkins County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the Target Store located at 40 Catherwood Road, Lansing for a report of a theft.  

Upon arrival deputies spoke with a Target employees.  The employee said that a white male attempted to steal numerous items from the store.  When employees confronted the male he dropped the items and asked the employees if they wanted to fight.  The male suspect then pulled a knife on a Target employee and backed the employee into a corner.  The suspect then fled the store without hurting anyone.

Through investigation deputies identified the male as Cedric M. Morais, age 21 of Ithaca, NY.  On April 9, 2022 at 10:00 AM, deputies located Morais at the Econo Lodge on N. Triphammer Road and arrested Morais without further incident.  

Morais was charged with Robbery in the First Degree (Class B Felony), Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree (Class D Felony) and Menacing in the Second Degree (Class A Misdemeanor).  Morais was held for Centralized Arraignment at 8:00 PM and remanded to the Tompkins County Jail without bail.
