February 22, 2022 - Narcotics Arrest

On February 22, 2022 at 11:19 AM, Tompkins County Sheriff's Deputies stopped a vehicle on Hanshaw Road in the Town of Dryden after observing an expired inspection and no front plate on the vehicle.

Deputies identified the driver as Daniel J. King, age 32 of Interlaken, NY. During the interview, Deputies observed drug paraphernalia inside of the vehicle and shortly after conducted a search of the vehicle. Deputies located methamphetamine, methamphetamine manufacturing materials to include precursors, solvents, reagents and lab equipment. Deputies located a scale, $270.00 in US currency, a black pellet pistol and several suspected stolen mailed envelopes, specifically checks that were not written to or from Daniel J. King.

King was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree (Class D Felony), Criminal Possession of Precursors for Methamphetamine (Class E Felony), Unlawful Manufacture of Methamphetamine in the Third Degree (Class E Felony) and several traffic tickets.

The Sheriff's Office is asking anyone who may be missing or have sent checks between February 20th, 2022 and February 22nd, 2022 to ensure that the checks they mailed were delivered and to check your checking/savings accounts to ensure none of your written checks were deposited fraudulently. This would be most important for residents in the Horizon Drive, Town of Lansing and immediate surrounding areas. This case is still pending and more charges are expected.
