January 18, 2023 - Narcotics Arrest

On January 18, 2023 at 11:06 AM, Tompkins County Sheriff's Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Robins Way, Town of Lansing after observing a vehicle operating without insurance.

Deputies interviewed the driver, Thomas J. Edwards Jr., age 37 of Newfield, NY who holds a suspended NYS Drivers License. During their vehicle inventory deputies located nine (9) plastic vials of what was later determined to be heroin and a fictitious NYS Inspection.

Edwards was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree (Class A Misdemeanor), Displaying a Fictitious NYS Inspection (Unclassified Misdemeanor), Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the Second Degree (Unclassified Misdemeanor), Operation of a Motor Vehicle to Circumvent Mandated Ignition Interlock Device (Unclassified Misdemeanor), Operating without Insurance (Infraction) and Uninspected Motor Vehicle (Infraction).

Edwards was released on an appearance ticket ordering him to return to the Town of Lansing Court at a later date.
