On January 28, 2023 at 7:08 PM, Tompkins County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the area of Glenside Road and Five Mile Drive in the Town of Ithaca for a reported traffic complaint. Witnesses reported a dark colored Jeep failing to maintain its lane of travel and it was also reported that the vehicle had struck a curb.
Deputies located the vehicle traveling southbound on Elmira Road in the Town of Ithaca and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. Deputies identified the driver as Maria Shernesky, age 25 of Ithaca, NY. Through further investigation deputies determined that Shernesky was intoxicated and arrested Shernesky.
Shernesky was charged with Failure to Keep Right (Violation), Driving While Intoxicated (Unclassified Misdemeanor) and Driving While Intoxicated with a 0.08% or more blood alcohol content(Unclassified Misdemeanor). Shernesky was released on appearance tickets.
