January 30, 2023 - Criminal Possession of Stolen Property

On January 30, 2023 at 2:44 AM, Tompkins County Sheriff's Deputies stopped a 2012 Subaru that was traveling on Dryden Road in the Town of Dryden with improper plates. The plates were registered to an unrelated vehicle that had been reported stolen in 2021.

Deputies identified the driver of the Subaru as Michael D. Girton, age 50 of Dryden, NY. Through further investigation Girton was found to have a suspended New York State Driver's License.

Girton was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 5th Degree, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rd Degree, uninsured motor vehicle, uninspected motor vehicle, unregistered motor vehicle and improper plates.

Girton was released on an appearance ticket and is set to appear in the Town of Dryden Court on February 15, 2023 at 5:00 PM.
