On July 1st, 2022 at approximately 6:41PM, Tompkins County Sheriff Deputies responded to Best Buy, located at 40 Catherwood Rd in the Village of Lansing for a theft report.
When deputies arrived on scene, they located the male subject in question, who identified himself as "Willy Covey". Through further investigation, it was determined that this individual did steal a tool set from Best Buy.
Once at the Public Safety Building, deputies were able to identify the individual as 32 year old Thomas Rath of Ithaca, NY. Rath did have several warrants out of police agencies in Seneca County.
Rath was charged with Petit Larceny, Criminal Using of Drug Paraphernalia in the 2nd Degree, and Criminal Impersonation in the 2nd Degree. Rath was issued his appearance ticket and turned over to Seneca Falls PD.
