On March 5, 2023 at 1:55 AM, Tompkins County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the 1000 Block of Danby Road in the Town of Ithaca for a report of a motor vehicle crash. Multiple 911 callers reported observing a black Chrysler that had driven off the roadway and eventually left the scene.
Deputies located the vehicle a short time later, covered in mud and the rear bumper was significantly damaged. The driver was located and identified as Taj S. Muhammad,age 21 of Somerset, NJ.
Muhammad was charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a 0.18% BAC or More (Unclassified Misdemeanor), Driving While Intoxicated (Unclassified Misdemeanor), Driving While Intoxicated With a 0.08% BAC or More (Unclassified Misdemeanor) and Unlicensed Operator (Infraction). Muhammad was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Ithaca Court on April 12, 2023 at 2:00 PM.
