September 24, 2022 - DWAI Drugs Arrest

On September 24, 2022 at 12:38 PM, Tompkins County Sheriff's Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Elmira Road, Town of Newfield on a red Dodge Ram truck after a concerned citizen called and reported the truck to be driving all over the roadway and into oncoming traffic. Deputies conducted a DWI Drugs Investigation, which resulted in Leitch's arrest for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs. Leitch was taken into custody and transported to the Tompkins County Sheriff's Office for processing where a more thorough search of his person was completed. During the search, Deputies located a single dollar bill folded up in Leitch's pocket with what was later determined to be methamphetamine.

Leitch was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree (Class A Misdemeanor), Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs (Unclassified Misdemeanor), Moving From Lane Unsafely (Traffic Infraction) and Uninspected Motor Vehicle (Traffic Infraction).

Leitch was issued appearance tickets and ordered to appear at the Town of Newfield Court at a later date.
