Halloween Weekend HVEC

We want our community to have a fun time during upcoming Halloween celebrations, but to also stay safe and make responsible choices. In today’s world, there are many options available to drivers to help them get home safely if they’ve been drinking.  Celebrate with a plan.

Drivers should be extra cautious during this Halloween, as more pedestrians are out at night on the hunt for candy. If your night involves drinking at a Halloween party, make sure you plan for a sober ride home.

The STOP-DWI Halloween High Visibility Engagement Campaign is one of many statewide initiatives promoted by STOP-DWI NY and the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee. Highly visible, highly publicized efforts like the STOP-DWI High Visibility Engagement Campaign aim to further reduce the incidence of drunk and impaired driving. The NYS Police, Tompkins County Sheriff's Office, municipal law enforcement agencies and STOP-DWI programs across the state will be participating in special engagement/enforcement efforts to reduce the number of alcohol related injuries and deaths. The statewide STOP-DWI HVEC efforts start on October 29th and run through October 31st, 2022.

You can help to make a difference by Having a Sober Plan!  Download our mobile app – “Have a Plan” and you will always be able to find a safe ride home www.stopdwi.org/mobileapp  Impaired driving is completely preventable.  All it takes is a little planning.
