On May 20, 2021 at 10:02 AM, Tompkins County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the Dollar General, 1989 East Shore Drive in the Town of Lansing for a theft complaint. Prior to deputies’ arrival, they located a male matching the description of the suspect near where the suspect was last reported pushing a shopping cart of stolen merchandise. Deputies identified the suspect as Richard Z. Andrews, age 29 of Ithaca, NY. Deputies conducted a show up identification with the witness who identified Andrews as the suspect.
Andrews was arrested and charged with Petit Larceny (Class A Misdemeanor) and released with an appearance ticket.
