November 29, 2022 - Grand Larceny Arrest

On November 21, 2022 at approximately 7:00am, Tompkins County Sheriff's Deputies responded to Dryden Road in the Town of Dryden for a report of a stolen vehicle. A 2011 black Honda Accord was started by the owner to warm up. The vehicle was then stolen out of the driveway as it was warming up. A search of the area was conducted and the vehicle was not located. 

Later that evening at approximately 9:40pm, Tompkins County Sheriff's Deputies located the stolen 2011 Honda, unoccupied, parked in a parking lot off of North Triphammer Road in the Town of Lansing.  

On November 23, 2022, TCSO Investigators conducted a search of the vehicle with the owner's consent in order to develop a suspect based on the items found in the vehicle.

On November 29, 2022, the suspect, Mason D. Thomas age 23 of Ithaca, NY was located and interviewed by investigators. Following the interview, Thomas was arrested and charged with Grand Larceny 3rd Degree and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th Degree. Thomas was turned over to the Tompkins County Jail to be later arraigned in Centralized Arraignment. Thomas was remanded to the Tompkins County Jail with bail set.  

Tompkins County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the New York State Police who also have charges pending on Thomas.
