October 29, 2022 - Making a Terroristic Threat Arrest

On October 29th, 2022 at about 4:30pm Tompkins County Deputies responded to the Cayuga View Apartments on Cypress Ct. in the Town of Ithaca for a report of a threat made against students riding on an Ithaca City School Bus.

Deputies spoke with the complainant that stated that on Friday October 28th a juvenile student had made a threat while on the bus that Monday morning (10/31/22) they were going to shoot up the bus. The reporting person only knew the juvenile student by first name. After investigating the incident deputies were able to obtain the full name and address of the juvenile suspect. Tompkins County Investigators interviewed the juvenile suspect with their guardian present and the juvenile suspect did admit to making the threat of gun violence.

The juvenile suspect was charged with Making a Terroristic Threat,a Class D Felony. They were released to their guardian, and will appear in County Court at a later date.

Following the release, deputies conducted a consent search of the juvenile’s home and no weapons were found.

An Emergency Risk Protection Order was requested by the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office and submitted to Tompkins County Superior Court.
