March 4, 2024 - Unlawful Fleeing Incident & Arrest

On March 4, 2024, at 8:42 AM, Tompkins County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the 1800 block of Trumansburg Road in the Town of Ulysses for a trespass complaint.  

Upon arrival deputies interviewed the complainant and determined that the suspect, Nicholas J. Apgar, age 37 Of Trumansburg, NY violated a court issued order of protection. Apgar had left the area prior to the deputies' arriving.  

At approximately 12:09 PM, Deputies located Apgar.  When deputies attempted to take Apgar into custody Apgar refused to exit his vehicle and fled.  The New York State Police, New York State Park Police and Trumansburg Police Department assisted the Sheriff's Office in a low speed pursuit which lasted for several miles.  Apgar eventually gave up and was taken into custody without further incident.  

Apgar was charged with two counts of Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree (Class A Misdemeanor) and Unlawful Fleeing (Class A Misdemeanor).  The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are pending.
