April 12, 2026 - Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance Arrest

On April 12, 2026, at approximately 5:00 PM, Tompkins County Sheriff’s Deputies located 41-year-old Thomas Edwards Jr., of Ithaca, NY, who had an outstanding violation of probation warrant issued out of Ithaca City Court.

Edwards was observed operating a green 2005 Subaru Legacy within the City of Ithaca. Sheriff’s Deputies initiated a vehicle stop in the 400 block of Hector Street. Upon stopping, Edwards fled the vehicle on foot. Following a brief foot pursuit, deputies successfully took Edwards into custody.

A search conducted incident to arrest revealed a white powdery substance, which later tested positive for methamphetamine.

Edwards has been charged with Resisting Arrest and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree. He was subsequently arraigned on the violation of probation warrant and remanded to the Tompkins County Jail.
