On August 20, 2025, at approximately 10:30 PM, while working a joint Gun Involved Violence Elimination (GIVE) detail with IPD and NYSP, a Tompkins County Sheriff's Deputy observed a blue Mercedes Benz commit traffic violations upon leaving the Seven Eleven Gas Station located in the 200 block of South Cayuga Street.
A vehicle and traffic stop was conducted with the Mercedes on West State Street in the City of Ithaca. The driver was identified as Breon J. Brooks, age 33, from Ithaca, NY.
A K9 search of the vehicle was conducted, resulting in the discovery of 4.5 ounces of methamphetamine, 4.5 ounces of cocaine and 15 grams of heroin. Brooks was also found to be in possession of a taser.
Brooks was charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree (Class A-II Felony), Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree (Class D Felony) and criminally using drug paraphernalia in the Second Degree (Class A Misdemeanor).
Brooks was remanded to the Tompkins County Jail without bail.
