The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Muhammad S. Jones, 29, of Ithaca, New York, charging him with Aggravated Harassment in the Second Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor, and Making a Terroristic Threat, a Class D Felony.

The charges stem from an alleged domestic-related incident and subsequent threatening statements allegedly made by Jones on social media.

Jones is alleged to be the owner and operator of several Facebook pages, including Tompkins County Community Hub, Tompkins County Predator Alert, New York State Predator Alert 2.0, and NYS Corruption Watch.

Previous public statements issued by the Ithaca Police Department and the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office advised that these pages were not affiliated with New York State, Tompkins County, any law enforcement, or governmental entity.

The Terroristic Threat charge stems from posts allegedly made by Jones on June 4, 2026, on the New York State Predator Alert 2.0 page.

During the investigation, it was determined that Jones had already left Tompkins County at or shortly after the time the alleged threats were made, and possible locations were identified. Law enforcement agencies in Schenectady and Warren Counties were immediately notified of the charges.

Jones was subsequently taken into custody without incident by the Warren County Sheriff’s Office on a warrant issued by Tompkins County and was transported back to the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office.

Jones was arraigned in Tompkins County CAP Court on June 5, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. and remanded to the custody of the Sheriff on $100,000 cash bail / $200,000 bond.

The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Ithaca Police Department, the City of Schenectady Police Department, the Schenectady County Sheriff’s Office, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, the Southern Tier Crime Analysis Center, and the New York State Intelligence Center.

As with all criminal cases, the charges are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
