COFA Cooling Program

The 2026 COFA Cooling Program opened June 6, 2026 and will close September 30, 2026.

 

Eligible individuals age 60+, or caregivers of eligible individuals 60+, can receive an air conditioner through the Office for the Aging. The COFA Cooling Program opens once the HEAP cooling assistance program has ended and will close September 30th. This program covers the cost of an air conditioner for eligible older adults.

Eligibility:

  • Must meet the current income guidelines for HEAP:

  • Cannot have a working air conditioner or the air conditioner that the individual has must be 5 years or older. 

  • Cannot have received an air conditioner from this program in the past 5 years.

  • Must have a physicians note specifying that the individual has a medical condition that is exacerbated by the heat.

  • Individual must have the means to retrieve the air conditioner from the Office for the Aging.

The type of air conditioner shall be determined on a case by case basis and shall not exceed $500. The COFA Cooling Program closes on September 30th or whenever funding runs out, whichever happens first.
