Aging

The Tompkins County Office for the Aging provides essential services and resources for older adults and caregivers, helping them live independently with dignity. Established in 1975, we offer objective information, support, and guidance tailored to the needs of our community.

Assessment

This office was consolidated in 1970 to provide the highest possible service at the lowest possible cost to the residents of Tompkins County. Our office is dedicated to ensuring that all properties are assessed at a uniform percentage of market value.

Assigned Counsel

The Assigned Counsel Program receives and reviews all applications for free attorney services and determines eligibility. Financial eligibility levels include: automatic eligibility for public assistance, poverty level, and inability to afford counsel. Attorneys are provided for charges including violations, misdemeanors, felonies, and appeals in criminal court, and most matters in family court.
