July 20, 2026 - Terroristic Threat Arrest

On July 20, 2026, at approximately 4:00 p.m., Tompkins County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a complaint from NYSEG regarding threatening statements made by a female resident of the Town of Dryden.

Deputies spoke with NYSEG representatives and obtained an audio recording of the reported threat. In the recording, the caller allegedly stated that she intended to drive her vehicle, filled with diesel fuel, into the NYSEG facility located approximately 10 minutes from her residence and "take lives" with her.

NYSEG representatives reported that the statements caused concern for the safety of employees at the NYSEG facility located at 1387 Dryden Road in the Town of Dryden. NYSEG's Lead Analyst of Physical Security provided a sworn statement and requested that criminal charges be pursued.

Following an investigation, deputies identified the caller as 46-year-old Kimberly Smith-Fish of Dryden. Deputies interviewed Smith-Fish and obtained additional evidence related to the investigation.

Smith-Fish was subsequently arrested and charged with Making a Terroristic Threat, a Class D felony.
