June 14, 2025 - Possession of Stolen Property Arrest

On June 14th, 2025, at 11:30 AM, Tompkins County Sheriff's Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 1700 block of Mecklenburg Road, Town of Enfield when a truck was observed operating with a stolen license plate on the rear.  Deputies further found that the front plate was also not registered to that vehicle.  Deputies interviewed the driver, Roy L. Searles, age 37, of Newfield N.Y.  Searles provided no rational reasons why he may be in possession of and operating with a stolen license plate on his truck.

Deputies arrested Searles who was charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fifth Degree (Class A Misdemeanor), and he was released with an appearance ticket.
