September 23, 2025 - Stolen Vehicle / Fleeing Suspect Arrest

On September 23, 2025, at approximately 8:00 p.m., a Tompkins County Sheriff’s Deputy, while assigned to a joint Gun Involved Violence Elimination (GIVE) detail with the Ithaca Police Department and New York State Police, received a Flock Safety alert of a stolen Chevrolet Silverado entering the City of Ithaca. The Rochester Police Department confirmed the alert.

Deputies and Ithaca Police Officers located the vehicle in the parking lot of a restaurant on Elmira Road in the City of Ithaca. When law enforcement activated their emergency lights and ordered the driver to exit, the suspect attempted to flee by reversing the truck but was blocked in by other vehicles. He then fled on foot but was quickly apprehended.

The driver was identified as Clayton A. Stone, 21, of Rochester, NY. Stone was charged with:

  • Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th Degree (Class E Felony)
  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree (Class A Misdemeanor)
  • Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree (Class A Misdemeanor)
Further investigation revealed Stone had an active felony warrant from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and pending charges from the Rochester Police Department related to his alleged involvement in the stabbing of two victims earlier that day. Stone was held at the Sheriff’s Office for arraignment.
