September 9, 2026 - Grand Larceny Arrest

On September 9th, 2026 at 7:04 AM, Tompkins County Sheriff's Deputies and New York State Troopers responded to the 300 block of Comfort Road, Town of Danby for a suspicious persons call.  During the investigation, Deputies located the related vehicle on Jersey Hill Road and spoke with the occupants, Timothy J. Ceurter Jr., age 36 of Spencer, NY and Cody J. Swansbrough, age 27 of Willseyville.  Deputies also learned that the vehicle was reported stolen the day prior to the Tioga County Sheriff's Office.  Both Swansbrough and Ceurter were arrested.

Ceurter was charged with Criminal Possession of a Stolen Property in the Fourth Degree - Vehicle (Class E Felony) and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree - Methamphetamine (Class A Misdemeanor).  Ceurter was turned of the TC Jail for Centralized Arraignment.

Swansbrough was charged with Criminal Possession of a Stolen Property in the Fourth Degree - Vehicle (Class E Felony) and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree - Methamphetamine and Heroin (both Class A Misdemeanors).  Swansbrough was released on appearance ticket ordering him to appear at the Town of Danby Court at a later date.
