Board of Elections moving to 214 W. State Street on August 24

The Tompkins County Board of Elections will open its new office at 214 W. State St, Ithaca, on Monday, August 24, continuing to provide voter registration, absentee ballot, candidate, and other election services from its new downtown location.
The Board is moving from Annex C at 128 E. Buffalo St. as the county prepares the site for construction of the new Center of Government. Annex C will be removed to make way for the new building.
The Board of Elections will occupy the former Tompkins County Office for the Aging space at 214 W. State St. The Office for the Aging relocated to 31 Dutch Mill Rd. in July, making the downtown space available for the Board of Elections and allowing election services to remain downtown throughout Center of Government construction.
“With the November election approaching, our focus is on making sure voters and candidates know where to find us and that election services continue throughout the move,” said Elections Commissioners Alanna Congdon and Stephen DeWitt. “Beginning August 24, voters can visit us at 214 W. State St., and our staff will be ready to assist with registration, absentee voting, candidate information, and other election-related needs.”
What Voters Need to Know
The Board of Elections will operate with limited staffing at 128 E. Buffalo St. on Thursday, August 20, and Friday, August 21, while staff, equipment, and office materials are moved. Residents are encouraged to call ahead at 607-274-5422 if they plan to visit the office during these days.
Beginning Monday, August 24, all regular Board of Elections office operations will take place at 214 W. State St., Ithaca, NY 14850. The public entrance is located on State Street, and on-street parking is available near the office. The new location is also served by TCAT bus service, with multiple routes available within walking distance.
Questions about voter registration, absentee or early mail voting, early voting, polling places, candidate filings, or other election matters can be directed to the Board of Elections at 607-274-5422 or through the web page tompkinscountyny.gov/boe.
The relocation is one of several department moves associated with Tompkins County's Center of Government project. The project will replace Annex C and create updated County government facilities on the downtown campus. Additional information about the Center of Government project is available on the county website at tcgov.co/cog.
