March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month

Whole Health Buildings Closed to the Public: Wednesday, February 25th

Tompkins County Whole Health (TCWH) offices at 55 Brown Road (Town of Ithaca) and 201 E. Green Street (City of Ithaca) will be closed on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, for staff development.

All Whole Health staff will participate in the all-day staff development. Our answering service will receive phone calls, and messages will be reviewed throughout the day.

TCWH EH Seeks Info About Dog Bite Outside of Fairview Manor Apartments

TCWH EH must locate a dog that bit a person yesterday, Wednesday, February 04, 2026, around 11:30 AM, outside of the Fairview Manor Apartment complex (522 Dryden Rd, Ithaca).

The dog is described as a very small white dog (exact breed unknown) and was being walked on the sidewalk without a leash. The owner of the dog presented as an Asian female, who was wearing all black, including black coat.

Radon Awarenss Week (January 26 - January 30, 2026) Radon is an odorless, colorless, and tasteless gas that can cause serious health problems, including lung cancer, if left undetected in your home. Radon is naturally occurring in the ground but can enter the home through cracks or gaps in the floor or walls. The only way to know if radon is in your home is to test the air for radon levels.

TCWH Releases Updated 2025-2030 Community Health Assessment

TCWH is pleased to announce the release of the updated Community Health Assessment, a countywide report that examines the factors that shape health and well-being for people who live and work in Tompkins County. The assessment synthesizes local, state and federal surveillance data, a countywide Community Health Survey (conducted in 2025), qualitative research, and extensive community engagement.

TCWH Affirms NYS' Adherence to AAP's Childhood Vaccination Schedule

Tompkins County Whole Health affirms New York State Department of Health’s commitment to maintaining prior childhood vaccination policies as a best practice for providing consistent, complete protection against life-threatening disease. There will be no change to vaccine access, insurance coverage, liability protections, to the Vaccines for Children program, or NYS school vaccination requirements.

EH Seeks Info About a Dog Bite in Fields Near Hanshaw Rd at Freese Rd.

Tompkins County Whole Health’s Environmental Health Division (EH) must locate a dog that bit a person today, Tuesday, December 16, 2025, around 2:00 PM, while they were cross country skiing in the fields that Cornell University owns, south of Hanshaw Rd. and west of Freese Rd. (Dryden). There were two dogs present, both large black dogs (possibly Bernese Mountain dogs), who were unleashed.

Health Alert: National Influenza Vaccination Week; Flu Prevalent in NY

TCWH is reminding the community of the importance of influenza (flu) vaccination during National Influenza Vaccination Week. The flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by the influenza virus. NYS DOH has declared flu to already be prevalent statewide. With cases of the flu being reported across NYS and Tompkins County, now is the time to be vaccinated if you have not already done so.

TCWH Celebrates One-Year Anniversary of New Mental Health Clinic Space

Tompkins County Whole Health (TCWH) is pleased to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the opening of new mental health clinic space at 55 Brown Road (northeast Ithaca) by hosting a ceremonial ribbon-cutting event with public officials.

In November 2024, TCWH opened the new clinic space to current mental health clients and began adding new clients to this location in the spring of 2025.
