At times all parents feel lost or without a clue about what our child might need from us. Imagine what it might feel like if you were able to make sense of what your child was really asking from you.

Join our licensed clinical therapists in this virtual program to improve your ability to:

  • Understand your child’s emotional world by learning to read the emotional needs
  • Recognize & respond to your child’s cues for connection, comfort, independence & reassurance
  • Support your child’s ability to successfully manage emotions
  • Enhance the development of your child's self esteem
  • Recognize how your own emotions, experiences and reactions influence parent-child interactions

About the program:

The Circle of Security Parenting™ program is based on decades of research about how secure parent-child relationships can be supported and strengthened.

The purpose of a parent attending a Circle of Security group is to increase an understanding of the child’s emotional and relational needs through an attachment-based framework. Parents learn how to recognize and respond to their child’s cues for connection, comfort, independence, and reassurance. The group supports parents in strengthening secure attachment by increasing awareness of how their own emotions, experiences and reactions influence parent-child interactions.

The Acceptance and Commitment Therapy group (ACT) helps people develop psychological flexibility through mindfulness-based skill building with an emphasis on finding ways to choose actions that align with personal values to help find ways to navigate challenging situations and live a rich and meaningful life. In ACT, psychological flexibility is characterized through six core processes:

  • acceptance,
  • contact with the present moment,
  • mindfulness,
  • cognitive diffusion (also known as thought distancing),
  • values, and
  • committed action (values-based actions).

Each group will be devoted to focusing on one of these core processes and building related coping skills while also showing over time how each of the core processes are interwoven to foster a flexible attention to present moment experiences.
