August 11, 2026 - Driving While Intoxicated Arrest

On August 11, 2026, at approximately 8:40 PM, the Dryden Police Department received a complaint regarding an intoxicated male who had left the Mirabito Gas Station on W. Main Street in the Village of Dryden. The individual, operating a red Mitsubishi SUV, had reportedly been denied the purchase of alcohol at the business and was last observed traveling westbound on W. Main Street.

Members of the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office responded toward the Village of Dryden and met with Dryden Police, who had located the red Mitsubishi at the Mirabito Gas Station on Dryden Road in the Town of Dryden. Deputies and Dryden Police made contact with the driver inside the store and identified him as 44-year-old Gregory Thorp of Dryden, NY. Thorp admitted to driving from the Mirabito in the Village of Dryden to the Mirabito on Dryden Road and displayed signs of impairment while speaking with officers.

Following further investigation, Thorp was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated. He was transported to the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office for processing and charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Driving While Intoxicated with a blood alcohol content above 0.08%. Thorp was issued an appearance ticket and released. He is scheduled to appear in Dryden Town Court at a later date to answer the charges.
