August 25, 2026 - Fatal Collision

On August 25, 2026, at approximately 6:05 PM, the Tompkins County Sheriff's Office, Lansing Fire Department and Bang's Ambulance responded to the intersection of Auburn Rd (NYS Route 34) and Locke Rd in the Town of Lansing for a motor vehicle collision involving a car and a motorcycle. 

 

When deputies arrived on scene, they identified 45-year-old Curtis Lonsky of King Ferry, NY as the operator of the motorcycle. Lonsky was pronounced dead at the scene. 

 

The other vehicle involved was a 2022 Infiniti compact SUV operated by 42-year-old Daniel Felipe of Brooklyn NY. 

 

It was learned that Lonsky was traveling north on Auburn Road, when he collided with Felipe's vehicle that was traveling south on Auburn Road, and turned east onto Locke Road in the path of Lonsky.

 

Felipe was issued a traffic ticket for Failure to Yield Right of Way. He was not injured. 

 

A portion of Auburn Road was shut down for the investigation until 9:53 PM. The New York State Police Crash Reconstruction Team is assisting. 

 

This incident is still under investigation at this time.
