August 27, 2026 - Burglary Arrest

On August 27th, 2026, at 6:44 AM, the Tompkins County Sheriff's Office responded to the 100 block of Iradell Road in the Town of Ithaca for a reported active burglary. 

When deputies arrived, they located a person matching the reported suspect description in the area. 

He was identified as Nicholas R. Maier, age 25, of the City of Ithaca, NY.  Through investigation, it was discovered that Maier had entered several outbuildings and garages in the area, taking items and causing damage to property inside.

Maier was subsequently charged with three counts of Burglary in the Third Degree (Class D Felonies), one count of Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree (Class A Misdemeanor) and one count of Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree (Class A Misdemeanor).  Maier is being held in the Tompkins County jail for arraignment later this evening.

It should be noted that Maier had been charged earlier this week by the New York State Police, for which they issued their own media release.
