The Sheriff’s Office is saddened to report that Andrew R. Harrell, the second occupant, succumbed to his injuries and has been pronounced dead also.

UPDATE:
On Sunday, 08/30/26, at 12:35 PM, the Sheriff’s Office responded to the 100 block area of N. Applegate Road in the Town of Enfield for a plane crash. The plane is described as a small Cessna-style aircraft.
The cause of the crash is ongoing, and will be investigated by the FAA and the NTSB.
We are still on the scene, more details will be released when able.

The Sheriff’s Office reports that the plane had two passengers.
David Kornreich, age 52, the owner of the plane, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other passenger, Andrew R. Harrell, age 31, was transported to Cayuga Medical Center and is in critical condition.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the plane was cleared for takeoff from the Ithaca Airport at 11:24 AM, and the last contact with the tower was at 12:02 PM.
The crash was called in by a witness at 12:35 PM who reported that it appeared the plane was experiencing a mechanical issue prior to going down.
We were assisted at the scene by the NYSP, the NYS Park Police, Enfield Fire & Rescue, the Dept. of Emergency Response, Ithaca FD, and Airport FD, and Trumansburg FD.
The plane was a 1977 Lake model LA-4-200.
There were no other people or structures involved in the crash, and no roadways were shut down. The cause will be investigated by the FAA and the NTSB.
Sheriff Osborne stated, “this is a terrible and tragic situation. Our hearts go out to the friends and family of the victims”.
