August 7, 2026 - Narcotics/Firearms Arrest

On August 7, 2026, at approximately 11:00 PM, members of the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at an apartment located at 2 Village Circle in the Town of Lansing as part of an investigation into suspected narcotics distribution.

 

The Sheriff’s Office had received credible information indicating that narcotics were being stored and sold at the residence.  Upon arrival, deputies detained Jimmy Lee Harris, age 53, who was identified as the sole occupant of the apartment.

 

During the search, deputies located approximately 111 grams of suspected fentanyl, 31 grams of cocaine, a digital scale, packaging materials, a 9mm handgun with a high‑capacity magazine, 9mm ammunition, and $1,570.00 in U.S. currency.

 

Harris was charged with the following offenses:
• Criminal Possession of a Weapon (Class D Felony)
• Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance (Class A‑II Felony)
• Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance (Class B Felony)
• Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia (Class A Misdemeanor)

 

Harris was transported to the Tompkins County Jail for CAP arraignment and was remanded without bail.
