County/City community agencies funding application open through May 21
Published on April 23, 2026
Tompkins County has announced that applications are open through May 21 for the 2027 County/City community agencies funding request process. Not-for-profit agencies serving the health and human services needs in the community are eligible to apply. The Human Services Coalition reviews applications and makes funding recommendations to the Tompkins County Legislature as part of an annual budget process.
Funding made available through this process supports not-for-profit agencies that provide services and/or programming in alignment with Tompkins County’s interests in addressing community needs. Agencies may apply for general operating support and/or program-specific funding.
For the 2027 budget year, Tompkins County is prioritizing applications that demonstrate alignment with the priorities of the Community Health Improvement Plan. Specific priority needs include nutrition and food security, housing stability, access to and use of prenatal care, workforce and access to employment, substance misuse and overdose, and chronic disease prevention.
Applicants must demonstrate an alignment with one or more of these county priorities in their application. Applicants may also identify other relevant county-wide planning documents, stated interests, or focus areas as part of their application.
The sources of this funding for community agencies are Tompkins County property and City of Ithaca sales taxes. The total amount of available funding is determined during the development of the County budget. For 2026, community agencies received a total of $1,587,699 in funding.
The application can be found online at: https://hsctc.org/applications. Applications are due on Thursday, May 21. Agencies may submit for early review by May 14. More details are available in the application documentation.
