The Tompkins County Legislature seeks a county resident with a strong interest in supporting and shaping higher education offerings to join the Tompkins Cortland Community College (TC3) Board of Trustees. The Board has one upcoming vacancy starting on July 1, 2025 and invites interested county residents to apply. This is a volunteer opportunity with a 7-year term and requires attendance at monthly board and committee meetings. The Tompkins County Legislature will appoint this member.

For over 50 years, TC3 has equipped more than 23,000 alumni with the skills needed in the job market and offered affordable programs in more than 40 fields of study designed to provide practical, real-world experience that leads to meaningful work, economic growth, and a brighter future. TC3 is a valuable partner in developing the workforce that will power the economic prosperity of this region.

The TC3 Board provides governance of the college’s operations, consistent with its mission to foster lifelong curiosity and inquiry through innovative educational pathways. This includes appointing the college president, approving curricula, budgets, tuition, and fees, and establishing policies and planning processes.

Legislator Michael Lane (D-Dryden) states: “Participation as a Trustee on the Tompkins Cortland Community College Board is a meaningful opportunity to help shape the educational future of generations to come and advance economic and social vitality in our community.”

Applicants must complete an Advisory Board Application form to indicate interest in serving on the TC3 Board. The form may be obtained from the Clerk of the Legislature office at the Governor Daniel D. Tompkins Building (Old Court House), 121 E. Court Street, Ithaca. The entrance is on the Dewitt Park side of the building. You can also download an electronic application form.

Applications may be dropped off at the Clerk of the Legislature office, mailed to the Clerk of the Legislature, emailed to legislature@tompkins-co.org, or faxed to 607-274-5430 by the end of day on Monday, June 16.
