Public Advisory: Unaffiliated Social Media Groups Operating Under Misleading Identity Tompkins County, NY and Ithaca PD – July 24, 2025:

The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office and the Ithaca Police Department have been made aware of several Facebook groups that are being operated by two individuals using, at times, what appears to be a fake profile under the name “Malikron Sable.” The groups in question include:

  • Tompkins County Public Safety Information
  • Tompkins County Predator Alert
  • Finger Lakes Region Predator Alert - NYSPA Charter 3

It has come to our attention that one of the moderators of these groups interacts with the “Malikron Sable” profile in a way that gives the impression of two distinct individuals. Additionally, certain content, domain names, and associated business names used by these groups may appear to be affiliated with governmental or law enforcement organizations, or otherwise "embedded" with them.

Specifically, names such as “NYSPA” and “SCS Group” are being used in a manner that may imply legitimacy. We want to clarify that these entities are not registered as businesses or nonprofit organizations in New York State, nor are they affiliated with the New York State government or any law enforcement agency.

We fully support and respect the right to free speech, and members of our community are free to engage with online content as they choose. However, we urge caution and encourage the public to critically assess the validity and source of information, particularly when it is presented under potentially false or misleading pretenses.

As required by law, the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office and Ithaca Police Department maintain an official and publicly accessible Sex Offender Registry, available through our websites. We encourage residents to refer directly to this verified source for accurate and up-to-date information.

We take sexual abuse allegations very seriously, and all reports are investigated thoroughly. If anyone feels a report was not investigated appropriately, please let us know. Our complaint procedure and an online reporting form are also available on our websites. Anyone with additional information or if they have been targeted by this group, are encouraged to notify the Ithaca Police Department or Tompkins County Sheriff to report it.
