July 26, 2025 - Traffic Accident Report

On Saturday, July 26, 2025, at approximately 10:35 AM, deputies from the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle personal injury motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Main Street and Elmira Road in the Town of Newfield.

Upon arrival and subsequent investigation, it was determined that a grey 2020 Honda CR-V failed to yield the right of way to a grey 2009 Ford Escape, which was traveling southbound on Elmira Road. As a result of the collision, both occupants of the Honda CR-V sustained serious injuries and were transported to Robert Packer Hospital for treatment.

The occupant of the Ford Escape was evaluated at the scene and declined further medical attention.

The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the New York State Police, Newfield Fire Department, Bangs Ambulance, and Trumansburg Ambulance.
