Incident Overview:
Tompkins County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance involving a firearm. While en route, dispatch reported that two males were struggling over a rifle, and one had fled the scene with a .22 caliber firearm.
A male matching the suspect’s description was observed running northeast on Hector Street, appearing to have facial injuries. Deputies attempted to detain the individual, who was non-compliant. Following a brief struggle, the suspect was taken into custody.

 

Suspect Information:
  • Name: Frank W. White II
  • Age: 30
  • Residence: Ithaca, NY
White received medical attention on scene but declined further treatment.

 

Investigation Findings:
Witnesses allege that White pointed the rifle at a family member and pulled the trigger, but the weapon failed to discharge. He then fled on foot and discarded the rifle nearby. Deputies conducted a search and successfully located and secured the firearm.

  • Attempted Murder in the Second Degree (Class B Felony)
  • Robbery in the Third Degree (Class D Felony)
  • Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree (Class A Misdemeanor)
  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree (Class D Felony)
  • Endangering the Welfare of a Child (Class A Misdemeanor)
White was transported to the Tompkins County Jail pending Centralized Arraignment Proceedings. White was arraigned on 07/08/25 at 8:30 AM and was held on bail of $10,000/$20,000 cash/bond. He is scheduled to reappear in the Town of Ithaca Court on 07/10/2025.
