June 12, 2026 - Serious Crash Involving Motorized Bicycle

LANSING, N.Y. — On June 12, 2026, at approximately 5:00 p.m., deputies from the Tompkins County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the 2900 block of North Triphammer Road in the Town of Lansing for a reported bicycle crash.

 

Upon arrival, emergency responders determined that a motorized bicycle had collided with a storage shed that was being unloaded for delivery along the roadway. Based on the severity of the incident, the call was upgraded to a motor vehicle crash with serious injuries.

 

The operator of the motorized bicycle, identified as Brian K. Babcock, 57, of Lansing, New York, sustained serious injuries and was transported by helicopter to Upstate Medical Center for treatment.

 

The Tompkins County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by the Lansing Fire Department and Bangs Ambulance.
