On June 7, 2025, at 11:03 PM, Tompkins County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Algerine Road in the Town of Lansing for a report of a burglary in progress. While in route the Tompkins County 911 center informed deputies that a person was trying to cut through the residence with a machete and smashing the back door.
Upon arrival deputies heard glass smashing behind the residence. Deputies located Dana Murphy age 43 of Lansing, NY behind the residence. Deputies took Murphy into custody without incident.
Murphy was charged with Menacing in the Second Degree (Stalking), Reckless Endangerment in the Second Degree and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Murphy was sent to the Tompkins County Jail to await centralized arraignment proceedings.
