May 28, 2026 - Personal Injury Motor Vehicle Crash

On May 28, 2026, at approximately 4:07 AM, Tompkins County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 200 Block of Culver Road in the Town of Ithaca for a personal injury motor vehicle crash.

Deputies arrived on scene and identified the driver as Heather M. Stewart, age 40, of Ithaca. Stewart sustained minor injuries after her vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. During the investigation, deputies determined she had been operating the vehicle while impaired by drugs. Drug paraphernalia was located in her possession, and deputies further learned that Stewart was operating with a suspended driver’s license. She refused to provide a blood sample when requested.

Stewart was charged with:

• Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs
• Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, 3rd Degree
• Failure to Keep Right

Stewart was turned over to CAP for arraignment scheduled for May 28, 2026, at 8:00 AM.
