May 31, 2025 - DWAI Drug Arrest

On May 31st, 2025 at 6:35 AM, Tompkins County Sheriff Deputies were patrolling North Street in the Village of Dryden. While on patrol, they conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot of the Speedway Gas Station after observing the vehicle not using their turn signal. Deputies interviewed the driver, Tammy A. Smith, age 51 of Dryden who originally provided the Deputy with a fictitious name. After given several warnings and continuing to provide the fictitious name, Deputies arrested Smith for False Personation.

During their investigation, Deputies also observed what appeared to be methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and signs of impairment on Smith. At the conclusion of their investigation, which included Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and a Vehicle Search, Deputies arrested Smith. Smith was charged with False Personation (Class B Misdemeanor), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree (Class A Misdemeanor), Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree (Unclassified Misdemeanor), Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs (Unclassified Misdemeanor) and Failing to Signal Turn - 100' (Traffic Infraction). Smith was released on appearance ticket ordering her to return to the Town of Dryden Court at a later date.
