On October 12, 2025, at 11:55 PM, Tompkins County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the 600 Block of Ridge Road in the Town of Lansing for a traffic complaint.

Upon arrival, deputies observed a tow service attempting to hook onto a 2011 Kia that had become disabled. The Kia operator was identified as Sharon M. Champion age 55 of Lansing, NY. Through further investigation deputies determined that Champion was intoxicated.

Champion was subsequently arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with 0.18% BAC or More. Champion was later released on appearance tickets and is set to appear in the Town of Lansing Court on November 20, 2025, at 2:00 PM
