October 20, 2026 - Prison Contraband Arrest

On October 20, 2026, Tompkins County Corrections Officers conducted routine cell inspections and located a homemade weapon, commonly referred to as a “shank,” concealed beneath a mattress.

The weapon was found in a cell housing incarcerated individual Samuel Rodriguez, age 18, of Ithaca, NY.

Rodriguez was charged with Promoting Prison Contraband in the First Degree, a Class D felony. He is scheduled to be arraigned in CAP Court a later date.
