October 6, 2026 - Dispute During Vehicle Repossession

On October 6, 2026, at approximately 2:50 a.m., the Tompkins County Sheriff's Office responded to the 200 block of Lake Road in the Town of Dryden for a reported dispute.

 

Upon arrival, deputies learned that a repossession worker had attempted to repossess a vehicle when a homeowner confronted the worker. The worker provided proof of bank repossession documents despite the homeowner's defiance.

 

The homeowner subsequently engaged in a physical altercation with the worker. During the altercation, the homeowner placed the worker in a chokehold restricting his airway and caused facial injuries to the worker through elbow strikes.

 

JEFFREY B. MYERS, age 44, of Dryden, was arrested and charged with Assault in the 3rd Degree and Criminal Obstruction of Breathing.

 

Myers was processed and released on an appearance ticket. He is scheduled to appear in Town of Dryden Court on November 2, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
