On September 24, 2026, members of the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office were requested to assist New York State Parole with a compliance check of a parolee and their residence located in the Village of Lansing, NY.

During the compliance check, New York State Parole officers discovered a large quantity of suspected narcotics inside the residence.  Sheriff’s deputies subsequently placed Rashad McDuffie, age 43, under arrest.

McDuffie was found to be in possession of approximately 102 grams of suspected cocaine.

He was charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, both Class B felonies under New York State Penal Law.  McDuffie was transported and turned over to the custody of the Tompkins County Jail to await arraignment in Centralized Arraignment Court. During arraignment, he was remanded back to the jail without the option of bail.
