The National Weather Service in Binghamton forecasts a dangerously cold blast of arctic air persisting through the weekend. Wind chill readings could drop as low as minus 30 degrees early Sunday, creating a risk of frostbite and hypothermia for anyone outdoors without proper protection.
With a wind chill advisory in effect for Tompkins County, Food Scraps Recycling Drop Spots are canceled for Sunday, Feb. 8. Canceled locations include Cornell Cooperative Extension and Cayuga Heights.
Future updates will be posted at RecycleTompkins.org at least one hour before the scheduled opening. Residents are encouraged to check the website for updates before traveling to a drop spot.
