Tompkins County Assigned Counsel moving to Seneca Place September 28

The Tompkins County Assigned Counsel Program will relocate from its current Center Ithaca office to Seneca Place, 130 East Seneca Street, Ithaca, beginning Monday, September 28.

The new Seneca Place office will provide a downtown location for staff and clients while longer-term plans move forward. Assigned Counsel is part of the county's Center of Government project and is ultimately slated to relocate to renovated space in the Old Jail.

Staffing availability will be limited on Thursday, September 24, and Friday, September 25, while the department completes the move. The new East Seneca Street office will open for regular operations on Monday, September 28.

The move will keep the program in downtown Ithaca, a short distance from its current location at Center Ithaca. The new offices will be located on the fifth floor of Seneca Place, Suite 510. The entrance to the offices is through the Tioga Street entryway to Seneca Place, and there are stairs and an elevator bank to reach the fifth floor. Public parking is available throughout downtown Ithaca.

The Tompkins County Assigned Counsel Program helps ensure eligible residents who cannot afford an attorney have access to legal representation in qualifying criminal and Family Court matters. The program determines financial eligibility and assigns attorneys to eligible clients.
