EH Seeks Info About a Dog Bite in Fields Near Hanshaw Rd at Freese Rd.

Tompkins County Whole Health’s Environmental Health Division (EH) must locate a dog that bit a person today, Tuesday, December 16, 2025, around 2:00 PM, while they were cross country skiing in the fields that Cornell University owns, south of Hanshaw Rd. and west of Freese Rd. (Dryden). There were two dogs present, both large black dogs (possibly Bernese Mountain dogs), who were unleashed.

Biennial TA/SNAP Employment Plan now open for public comment

The Temporary Assistance (TA) and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Employment Plan for Tompkins County is available on the Department of Social Services website and open for public comment until December 30, 2025. A hard copy of this document is available for review on-site at the Tompkins County Department of Social Services at 320 W Martin Luther King Jr./State Street in Ithaca.

Health Alert: National Influenza Vaccination Week; Flu Prevalent in NY

TCWH is reminding the community of the importance of influenza (flu) vaccination during National Influenza Vaccination Week. The flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by the influenza virus. NYS DOH has declared flu to already be prevalent statewide. With cases of the flu being reported across NYS and Tompkins County, now is the time to be vaccinated if you have not already done so.

TCWH Celebrates One-Year Anniversary of New Mental Health Clinic Space

Tompkins County Whole Health (TCWH) is pleased to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the opening of new mental health clinic space at 55 Brown Road (northeast Ithaca) by hosting a ceremonial ribbon-cutting event with public officials.

In November 2024, TCWH opened the new clinic space to current mental health clients and began adding new clients to this location in the spring of 2025.
